Malta Winter Holidays & Breaks 2018/19
Malta Winter Holidays & Short Breaks
Malta HolidaysMalta maybe small but it packs a lot into its tiny islands. Located in the Mediterranean Sea south of Sicily it’s hot summers and warm winters make it a popular year round holiday destination.
It has also become a hub for the clubbing scene with internationally renowned DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Van Heill appearing for guest weekends throughout the year.
AttractionsSteeped in over 7000 years of history with much of it still visible today makes the island like a giant open air museum. Delve into the Islands’ mysterious prehistory, retrace the footsteps of St. Paul or see where the Knights of St. John defended Christendom. Not to be missed are the 16th century capital Valletta and the medieval Mdina from where it is possible to see the whole island with the honey-coloured stone against the deepest of Mediterranean blues providing a striking contrast.
BeachesMalta has beaches for everyone, from windsurfers to sunbathers. Choose from golden sand, red sand, rocks, blue lagoons and even inland seas. The larger sandy beaches are located in the north of the island, the most popular being Melliha Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay.
Beach life lasts to mid October and not to be missed are the regular daily boat trips to Comino’s Blue Lagoon where you can swim in the clear azure water.
NightlifeCome the evening you will find plenty to do whatever your tastes and unlike many holiday destinations the nightlife in Malta is alive all year round. The main nightlife clubbing action is in Paceville, on the coast near St. Julians, where the clubs and bars are in abundance whilst the popular coastal resorts of St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and Qawra are lively with an extensive choice of restaurants and bars to spend your evenings.
It is much quieter on Gozo and away from the resorts for those that just want some peace and relaxation.
