Location : Northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Libya and the Gaza Strip
Tourism : Around 3.7 million holiday makers now visit Egypt each year. Tourists have been visiting Egypt for the last 100 years many of them attracted by the warm dry climate.
Whilst the wealth of antiquities are a major attraction, increasing numbers are heading to Egypt for beach holidays rather than the classical sites.
Major Attractions :-
The Pyramids and ancient monuments - Don't miss the Pyramids at Giza, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still standing.
The Nile - Cruises down the Nile offer a relaxed mode of travel and the chance to visit a wider variety of antiquities along the banks of the river. They also allow you to see rural Egypt, where people live much the same way as they did thousands of years ago, in mud brick homes, tending their fields with wooden ploughs and moving produce by donkey.
Diving - The Red Sea is becoming increasingly popular and is a paradise for divers and snorkellers who can explore the underwater wonders including technicolour fish, coral and old shipwrecks.
Nightlife : You can find small, inexpensive establishments that serve good Egyptian food for only a few pounds or spend your evenings in hot night spots or luxury five star restaurants. The larger cities even have fast-food chains like McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
