Known as the floating garden this small Atlantic island is located 400 miles west of Morrocco with a subtropical climate that offers warm sunshine all year round. The island appeals to nature lovers and walkers and attracts a fairly upmarket clientle. Although there is only one beach on Madeira, a six mile strech of sand at Porto Santo most hotels have swimming pools or access to the sea
